LOFAR welcomed into the ERIC family

| Description: | LOFAR ERIC (European Research Infrastructure Consortium) was officially established on 20 December 2023, making it a single legal entity across the European Union. On 4 June, LOFAR was officially welcomed to the ERIC family at the Research Infrastructures Conference in Brussels. LOFAR ERIC received the official ERIC plate from Anna Panagopoulou, the Director of European Research Area & Innovation at the Research and Innovation Directorate General. The plate is a visible recognition of LOFAR's European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) status. The plate was handed over to Wim van Cappellen (Interim Director) in the presence of Jacqueline Mout-Leurs (Council Chair) and René Vermeulen (Founding Director). Today we are hosting a delegation of over 60 delegates from all partner countries to celebrate this momentous milestone in the history of the unique scientific instrument that has already revolutionised low-frequency radio astronomy research, resulting in an avalanche of scientific publications in the past decade and facilitating more exiting results for the next decade and beyond. |
