Description: | Nice to see the engagement of so many volunteers; all with the intention to make the LofarDag 2019 (8 September 2019) a success! Visitors, young and older, were promised to find answers on questions like: How does the Lofar telescope work? What do you see in the universe? How to build a raft? What kind of nature can be found in and around Exloo? How does gravity works? What will be tomorrow's energy? In Exloo, Michiel Brentjens and Pietro Zucca enthusiastically told the many visitors about LOFAR, the observations, space weather, the universe, etc. Children could make a pulsar and the Discovery Truck of the University of Groningen could be visited, as well as the mobile planetarium of Kapteyn Institute Groningen. At the superterp Frank Nuijens represented ASTRON with a small booth. He coordinated the tours for the groups guided by the people of Het Drentse Landschap around the Lofar telescope, located in a beautiful landscape. The LofarDag has been organised by Stichtingsbestuur LofarTafel in close cooperation with several other organizations. |
