Description: | Last month, the U of Leiden Radio Astronomy MSc class visited ASTRON. Despite terribly wet weather, the students managed to visit the WSRT, EMBRACE, LOFAR (CS302 and the Superterp) and the ASTRON HQ in Dwingeloo. After a short presentation, they toured the building and visited JIVE and the Dwingeloo 25-metre telescope operated by CAMRAS. Before leaving there was time for some snacks and drinks, together with the colloquium crowd. The images above shows a subset of the 2012 Radio Astronomy MSc class - the course was again extremely popular this year, and we hope a few of the students will return as part of the future generation of LOFAR and SKA astronomers. Many thanks to everyone who helped to make the visit such a success! |
