Description: | Aboriginal artists from Australia have created paintings based on the theme of 'Ilgarijiri', which means ‘things belonging to the sky’ in Wajarri, the language of the Aboriginals. In 2009, the International Year of Astronomy, Aboriginal artists joined a project with the Yamaji Art cooperative in Geraldton and radio astronomers from the International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR) in Perth, Western Australia. This exhibition presents two different world views of the sky and the universe – the stars and the Space between them. More background information on the artworks can be found on the website of the Ilgarijiri Project: http://astronomy.curtin.edu.au/ilgarijiri The exhibition runs from Saturday, 25 February to Saturday, 3 March in the Atrium of The Hague City Hall. If you happen to be in the area, just 5 minutes walk from the central station.. |
