JWST MIRI Spectrometer Main Optics under optical testing

Description: The picture shows the Verification Model of the JWST-MIRI Spectrometer Main Optics while being optically tested for image quality and alignment. The VM was succesfully delivered to RAL in Oxford on April 4th 2007. There the SMO will be integrated together with other parts of the MIRI instrument and tested in a cryostat with a JWST telescope simulator
